Cure Bad Breath with Modern Bad Breath Technology

Do you have  bad breath that is continuous and lasting? If all other factors have been ruled out, you should consider taking sophisticated tests using modern technology: A new portable sulfide monitor called the Halimeter is being used widely to test for levels of sulfur emissions in the mouth air.

Be advised as it  has drawbacks in clinical and lab applications. For example, many common sulfides are not recorded as easily and can be read erroneously in test results. Certain foods such as garlic and onions produce sulfur in the breath for as long as 48 hours and can result in false readings.

The Halimeter is also found to be very sensitive to alcoholic drinks; you may need to avoid drinking alcohol or using alcohol-rich mouthwashes for at least 12 hours prior to being tested. This meter will loose its sensitivity over time and requires periodic recalibration to remain accurate.

Modern research have given us portable gas chromatography machines such as the “OralChroma“, which is specifically designed to digitally measure molecular levels of the three major odor compounds in a sample of mouth air. It is extremely accurate in its results and produces visual conclusions in graph form via computer interface.

Microbiological testing of swab samples of teeth and tongue residue remains the most accurate method of determining the specific bacterial causes of oral malodor.

The Top 5 Myths About Bad Breath

“The Top 5 Myths About Bad Breath”

Myth 1: Bad Breath Is Caused By Poor Hygiene.

Depending on whose figures you accept, bad breath is a problem that affects as much as 90% of the population, to some extent. However, despite common beliefs, in most cases, it is not caused by poor oral hygiene. A very small percentage of cases may be, but the overwhelming majority aren’t.

It’s the most common myth out there about the problem. However, most people who suffer from bad breath actually have excellent hygiene practices because, based on that misunderstanding, the worse their problem gets, the more they brush and scrub and gargle and floss to try to get rid of it. It’s a futile effort though (and, in some cases, can actually make the problem worse, as many toothpastes and mouthwashes have ingredients that actually make bad breath more pronounced in the long term!).

Of course it does not hurt to use your electric toothbrush.

Myth 2: Treating Bad Breath Requires Expensive Products.

While most of the only cover up and mask the problem, there are a number of extremely effective products on the market that really do tackle the fundamental causes of bad breath. However, they are extremely expensive. Some of them cost as much as $100.00 a month, effectively forever! If you can afford that, great but most of them actually contain the same (or similar) ingredients as the highly-effective home remedy described in The Bad Breath Report (and you can usually get them at your local supermarket for pennies!)

Myth 3: Bad Breath Can’t Be Cured – Only Masked.

Temporarily masking your bad breath with mints and sprays can significantly worsen your problem. Their ingredients create a hospitable environment for bacteria to thrive in your mouth, which is the exact opposite of what you must do to really solve the problem. By using products like these to deal with the symptoms of bad breath, you’ll only make things worse. You need to address the causes of bad breath instead.

Myth 4: Bad Breath Originates In The Stomach.

Years ago, there was much hype about pills that claimed to cure bad breath in your stomach. However, the makers of those pills were practically obliterated by legal action by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) for making false claims. In short, it’s completely untrue: While there are some relatively rare medical conditions that do produce bad odors from the stomach, the cause of most cases of bad breath (90%+) is something completely different.

Myth 5: There Is A One-Time Cure For Bad Breath.

It takes quite a long time to develop a bad breath problem. It doesn’t happen overnight. There are a number of factors that gradually combine to cause it. In the same way, while you can rapidly eliminate the odor in just a few days, it will also take time to undo the damage, and to change the environment in your mouth from one that the microorganisms which cause most cases of bad breath love and thrive in to one that they hate and can’t survive in.

By following the recommendations of The Bad Breath Report, most people will get rid of their problem very rapidly. However, if they then stop, and fall back into their old patterns and old ways of doing things, it should come as no surprise that the “old problem” (i.e. bad breath) will gradually begin to reemerge.

Why TheraBreath Works

By Dr. Harold Katz – BAD BREATH EXPERT

SUMMARY: Why TheraBreath Works So Well

7 Reasons Why TheraBreath is Superior to any other group of Products

One:
Our active ingredient is stabilized and generates oxidizing power as soon as it enters your mouth. This stabilization process allows TheraBreath to have up to a 3 year shelf-life.
[NOTE: Do not be confused by jealous competitors who state that TheraBreath does not contain active chlorine dioxide. Those statements are made to confuse the public. When any of the TheraBreath products enter your mouth, a chemical reaction takes place, which allows PLENTY of fresh oxidation every time you use it. That's why thousands of TheraBreath kits are sold every week in North America, Asia, Europe, South America, and Australia!]

Two:
TheraBreath has become the most “user-friendly” Anti-Halitosis System, featuring an Oral Rinse, Toothpaste, Breath Spray, Concentrated PowerDrops, and Oxygenating Chewing Gum, all designed to attack the root of the problem throughout the day with the utmost of convenience.

Some Breath-refreshing systems rely solely on mouthwash to fight bad breath.

Three:
TheraBreath ToothGel also contains Sodium Fluoride which fights decay. Fluoride has also been shown to be an effective de-sensitizing agent. Some of the other “Anti-Halitosis” systems do not contain any Fluoride at all. Before you purchase any “anti-Halitosis” product, make sure to ask if it contains Fluoride.

Four:
We have added highly concentrated Whole Leaf Aloe Vera to our toothpaste. Recent research in Asia has shown that Aloe Vera boosts the body’s ability to create collagen, which in turn strengthens weak and swollen gums to heal more quickly. (Bleeding gums provide a protein food source to the bacteria that create bad breath). No other “anti-Halitosis” system contains this form of Aloe Vera to fight this added problem.

Five:
Our toothpaste or tooth”gel” does not contain Saccharin. (some other breath-refreshing products do). Saccharin has been shown to be carcinogenic in lab animals. Also, for some people, Saccharin creates a bitter aftertaste, due to one of the chemical compounds produced during Saccharin’s chemical breakdown.

Six:
TheraBreath ToothGel does not contain Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (a harsh detergent), which has been shown to be related to an increased incidence of canker sores. Almost all toothpastes contain this chemical. Research has shown that SLS should not be used by those who suffer from canker sores. And because the toothpaste does not contain SLS, (which will cause high levels of foam in the mouth), you will be better able to cleanse these odor-causing bacteria from your mouth by being able to brush longer.

Seven:
Our TheraBreath Toothgel is actually a gel. Chemically speaking, gels are much smaller molecules than pastes, allowing deeper penetration below the tongue surface. TheraBreath toothpaste also contains premiere tooth polishing and whitening agents, in order to keep your smile white and brilliant, but without damaging abrasives. They are cruelty-free and are not harmful to the environment.

Clinical Studies on TheraBreath:

Presented at UCLA – The University of California at Los Angeles – (at the 4th International Conference on Oral Malodor)

The Effects of Oxygenating TheraBreath Products on Bad Breath Patients – Testing of Saliva Production, and Reduction of VSC by Flame Chromatography and Halimeter Values.b

Bacterial production of Hydrogen Sulphide plays the main role in the ethiopathogenesis of bad breath, although there are several minor etiologic factors which also play a role. The anaerobic bacteria live in ideal areas, unreachable by oxygen, such as the back of the throat and tongue, interproximal areas of the teeth, periodontal pockets, and enlarged tonsilla. An oxygenating agent able to act in these regions could provide a benefit in eliminating halitosis.

Our study monitored 25 subjects at the Department of Periodontology of our University Dental School. The subjects all suffered with the most common signs of bad breath and were evaluated both before and after the study using GCF, Halimeter (manufactured by Interscan) readings, and their level of saliva production by a Periotron 8000.

Results showed a statistically significant decrease in Halimeter readings and GCF values, while at the same time increasing their level of saliva production.

Conclusion: TheraBreath products (Oral Rinse, Toothpaste, Breath Spray, Concentrated PowerDrops, and Oxygenating Chewing Gum) are able to scientifically eliminate bad breath (halitosis), while at the same time helping to create more saliva for those who suffer with dry mouth. There is a remedy for your bad breath.

Independent study conducted by the following Doctors: G. Acikgoz, I. Devrim, M. Aldikacti, A. Kayipmaz, G. Keles of the Ondokuz Mayis University Dental School, Samsun Turkey

Why the OXYD-8 version of chlorine dioxide (used exclusively in TheraBreath) provides the longest & strongest relief:

TheraBreath is designed to produce copious amounts of “fresh, Potent” ClO2 “ON DEMAND” exactly where it’s needed – in the oral cavity, throat and tonsils.

Consumption of “FREE” ClO2 leads to replenishment of more “FREE” ClO2 by a simple Le Chatelier shift to the right.

The demand for ClO2 is caused by the presence of the proteins and acids in the anaerobic bacteria and the volatile sulfur compounds they produce. This sensitive trigger mechanism in the OXYD-8 active ingredient in TheraBreath does not require stabilizing elements, bleach (as used in the ProFresh system) or buffers needed in other formulas.

The Worst Remedies For Bad Breath!

“How NOT To Treat Bad Breath:

The Worst Remedies For Bad Breath!”

  1. Mouthwash: Use this at your peril! The majority of mouthwashes contain very high levels of alcohol which actually WORSENS bad breath!
  2. Breath mints and sprays: A pleasing smelling mouth doesn’t nesessarily mean that you have a healthy mouth. Mints and spray temporarily mask your bad breath, but provide a veritable feast for bad bacteria that will significantly worsen the probelm.
  3. Chewing gum: Chewing gum does increase salivary juice flow, but only masks bad breath. Try drinking water throughout the day instead, which keeps you in good health as well.
  4. Chewing tobacco: Smokeless tobacco is a health hazard and causes gums to dissolve and increases the chance of losing the material that hold your teeth firmly in your mouth, and, worst of alll, causes oral cancer. Avoid at all costs.
  5. Vodka, martinis, or whiskey: Alcohol is a drying agent, and will further increase the problem by making your mouth too dry (which results in accelerated growth of bad bacteria).
  6. Brushing with cleanser: Unbelievable as it sounds, many people have tried to brush their teeth with household detergents, bleach, and other cleaning products! They “reason” that, if those things do such a good job cleaning their house, maybe they’ll do a good job cleaning their teeth as well. However, many of these products are poisonous and, in some instances, fatal. They should never (ever) be put in your mouth!
  7. Intestinal cleansing methods: Bad breath doesn’t originate in the stomach or intestine. It originates in your mouth. Internal cleanses might be good for overall health, but don’t expect them to eliminate your bad breath.
  8. Tongue piercing: As with any wound on your body, tongue piercing creates an entry-point for bacteria, and that has the potential to worsen your problem considerably! If you think “ordinary” bad breath is bad, imagine what it will be like if you have a smelly infection in your tongue as well!

“Why Your Bad Breath LITERALLY Disgusts Other People!”

There’s nothing worse than having bad breath. In fact, it’s probably one of the MOST embarrassing problems anyone can have because, when you suffer from bad breath, you literally make other people feel physically sick!

Seriously.

One of the basic human emotions is disgust: when presented with something potentially harmful or infectious, you recoil, scrunch your nose up, and perhaps gag. These are signs of disgust and they happen automatically. You have no conscious control over them. They are actions your brain is instructing your body to carry out in an effort to get away from the source of potential harm or infection.

Some of the chemical compounds that have been detected in bad breath include hydrogen sulfide, which smells like rotten eggs; skatole, which smell like feces; andputrescine, which smells like rotten meat. If you have bad breath, it doesn’t matter if somebody thinks you’re the greatest person they ever met because, once their brain detects any of these smells, it recognizes them as a potential source of infection and literally FORCES their body to automatic recoil in a way characteristic of feeling disgust. In other words: Their brain recognizes your bad breath as a DANGEROUS THREAT to their health and well-being! That’s why people turn away… step back… and cover their nose and mouth when you’re near them.

For this reason, it’s little wonder that, far from being a minor irritation or nuisance, bad breath can have a crippling effect on your life, your self-esteem, and your confidence. It can literally destroy your relationships with your family and friends but sending their brain into survival mode. It can even cripple your marriage too: nobody wants to kiss sombody with bad breath; from their brain’s point of view, they might as well be kissing a dog turd!

It’s also the number one turn off in any dating situation (even more so than body odor). In fact, in a survey bythe British Dental Association in England, bad breath was rated as the MOST unattractive feature any person could possibly have!

Please keep in mind the smell of your breath is an important part of good hygiene. Additionally, there are home remedies for Bad Breath.

It even has drastic implications for your career: if you walk into a job interview, and the interviewer gets a whiff off your bad breath, it sets alarm bells ringing throughout their body. On the face of things, they might think you have a great resume and that you might be well suited to the job, but, in their head, their brain will be screaming at them to get away from the source of possible infection sitting in front of them (that’s you!). Although they’re unlikely to consciously consider bad breath as a reason not to hire you, the very fact that you invoked such a strong automatic (negative) response in their body is going to sway their opinion considerably.

Be sure to get help and treat the cause of Bad Breath.

“How Bad Breath Could Stop You Getting The Job You’ve Always Wanted!”

If you have ever failed to get a job or promotion you wanted, even though you had a great resume and had all the right qualifications and experience, it may be because the interviewer thought you were disgusting, and he felt physically sick just talking to you.

There are many causes and cures for Bad Breath.

Yes, really! Does that shock you? No doubt you’re a very nice person, so it probably does but, if you have bad breath, it may well be true. The interviewer may not know it (in fact, he might even have thought you were very suitable for the position) but an ancient brain system, originally designed to identify rotten food, literally FORCED him to reject you! The moment it detected your bad breath, the decision not to hire you was made without him even realizing it.

You see, bad breath contains a number of extremely smelly chemical compounds, including hydrogen sulfide, which smells like rotten eggs. It also contains methyl mercaptan and skatole, which smell like feces, as well as cadaverine, which smells like corpses, and putrescine, which smells like rotten meat!

All of these smells have something in common: they evoke disgust, an extreme emotion designed to protect us from things that are unclean, inedible, or infectious. When we feel disgust, our brain tenses muscles in our face called the levator labii. This produces the facial characteristics everybody recognizes as disgust (i.e. a scrunched nose and raised upper lip), which prevents foul odors or stray particles (from whatever caused the disgust) from entering the nose and mouth. Additionally, the brain creates an overwhelming urge to recoil or turn away from the source of disgust in an effort to further isolate the body from any possible contamination.

If you have bad breath, that reaction probably sounds familiar! That’s why people turn away… step back… or cover their nose and mouth when you’re near them. They can’t help it; it doesn’t matter if they think you’re the greatest person they ever met because, once their brain detects any of these smells, it recognizes them as a potential source of infection and literally FORCES their body to automatically recoil in disgust. In other words: Their brain recognizes your bad breath as a DANGEROUS THREAT to their health and well-being!

While the interviewer is looking through your resume and asking you questions, his brain is screaming at him that you are a source of possible harm and that he should get away from you as quickly as possible. Even if he’s not consciously aware of it, the feeling of unease it causes gets transferred onto you, and you can bet it’s going to greatly influence his decision. The end result is still the same though: Somebody ELSE gets the job!

Unfortunately, no matter how much we hated to have one if we do not take good care our oral and dental health, it is possible that we can have bad breath. But, do not think that proper oral and dental hygiene is the only reason for your bad breath. Even sinus problems can cause bad breath.

There are some factors that can cause the odor of your mouth. Whatever the reasons maybe for your bad breath condition, it has to be cured. If you concern about having bad breath or halitosis, here are a few tips about home remedy for bad breath that may help you to prevent or cure.

Bad breath is often due to the lack of moisture in your mouth. It is best to drink plenty of water to replenish dry tissues of the mouth and flush any food particles stuck in between teeth. It is often recommended that we drink eight glasses of water each day and this advice will go a long way to reducing bad breath. If you feel like drowning drinking the recommended dosage of water, one best way to moisturize one’s mouth is by eating fresh fruits

Gargling Mouthwash several times a day is not the solution. People who use mouthwash the most often are most likely to have bad breath. Although mouthwash do help to get rid of bacteria and freshen your breath, it also consist of ingredients that can dry your mouth. Hence, using it too many times a day can cause adverse effect instead.

Gargling with baking soda and water is one of the easier home remedy for bad breath. The baking soda assists in neutralizing the bacteria in your mouth and often is successful when used occasionally. Mouth wash is another quick and easy fix. Whether it is store bought mouth wash, or by means of a herbal concoction you find in a magazine, it is a good home remedy for halitosis. The most important way to rid yourself of halitosis, is to increase the number of times you brush and floss your teeth in a day. Flossing is very important, since it rids the teeth of plaque that builds up, resulting in halitosis.

One of the easiest remedies to cure bad breath is consuming sugarless yogurt. You can add this to your routine meals to see the effect yourself. A Japanese study cleared that people who had included sugarless yogurt in their diet had minor hydrogen sulfide levels compared to those people who did not eat it. Hydrogen sulfide causes bad breath amongst most people. Yogurt helps in reducing bad breath as it contains various live bacteria, such as lactobacillus.

Cranberries are another thing that people have found to be effective when it comes to fighting bad breath, try drinking cranberry juice more often, even just a couple of glasses per day might make a big difference.
